Fall’s shorter days encourage many of us to curl up on the couch after a long day at work. Registered dietitian nutritionist Felicia Stoler, DCN, MS, RD, FACSM, however, has a better idea. If you need an energy boost, trade your remote control for some Regular Girl. This fiber supplement is a synbiotic blend of prebiotic Sunfiber and probiotics. Despite the laughs, we were pleased when the former TV host told Minneapolis CBS news viewers about our fiber’s energizing benefit. If regularity is important to you, pay attention to Stoler’s tips.

It’s no joke: The foods you eat affect how you feel. When you fill yourself with junk foods, it’s hard to have the energy to move your body off the couch. Stoler’s tips for a high-energy diet:

  1. Choose high-fiber foods. “Think about eating foods with a low-glycemic index,” said Stoler. “Instead of eating those refined sugars, choose foods such as apples, sweet potatoes, carrots, beans and quinoa.” The typical American diet is lacking in fiber. “We should have at least 27 grams of fiber per day,” explained Stoler. “Most people don’t get enough.”
  1. Give your GI system a boost with Regular Girl. “Regular Girl has prebiotic fiber and probiotics,” explained Stoler. The prebiotic fiber supports the probiotics, or helpful bacteria. They work in tandem to promote balanced intestinal health and regularity. “This is important for the immune system, and also good just to help everything go,” said Stoler. “It’s like giving your colon a workout,” she laughed. The hosts giggled at Stoler’s colon workout statement, but she continued. “I think it’s terrific. And it’s nice that it’s a gluten-free product.” Consuming enough fiber may be a challenge for people eating a gluten-free diet.

Regular Girl is available in convenient grab-and-go packaging and in a convenient 30-serving pouch. The tasteless fiber supplement mixes invisibly into water, smoothies, yogurts and many other foods and drinks.
